The Lost Thing

The Lost Thing, an 2011 Oscar-winning short film, based on the award winning picture book by Shaun Tan. Produced by Passion Pictures Australia, Interference Pattern was responsible for creating and delivering nearly 15 minutes of full CGI for this short film, along with pipeline and look development.

Interference Pattern’s founder Tom Bryant was the cgi supervisor and lead artist on the film, having been involved with the project from an early development stage right through to final shot completion.

The film went on to win the Oscar for “Best Animated Short Film” at the 83rd Academy Awards.

Tom Bryant of Interference Pattern was a dedicated, key contributor to the success and production of THE LOST THING. Tom not only has technical expertise of the highest level, but also, so important for our film, is a true artist in his own right. It was this talent that enabled us to fully realise Shaun Tan’s designs and painterly world in the digital space.
