Lighting/Comp Artist

We’re looking for a lighting / comp artist to work in Houdini & nuke with an immediate start.

We are a small and perfectly formed CGI studio based in Edinburgh with a diverse and interesting range of projects in the pipeline, from documentary features to original shorts. Check us out at

Lead 3D Artist

We are recruiting for a senior level, lead 3D artist for a full-time position at the studio.

Ideally the candidate should have a minimum of 6 years production experience, with some of that time spent in a supervisory or lead artist role. This experience timescale is negotiable depending on portfolio. A specialism in lighting, visual effects and compositing would also be an advantage. The role will entail both on-the-job production work delivering modelling, vfx, lighting and compositing for studio projects alongside team coordination, providing feedback and review for other artists work. There is also scope for developing and refining our studio pipeline and procedures as the we continue to grow.

  • Acting as the studios lead 3d artist, responsible for both creating final 3d content and supervising the 3d teams at the studio. 
  • Working closely with project directors and clients to define the best approach and execution for projects.
  • Supervising a small team of artists, ensuring that they all deliver assets to the required high high standards, both internally and for external clients
  • Ensuring that all work delivered meets the required artistic and technical standard required by the studio.
  • Providing feedback and review on other artists work and submissions.


Artistic and Technical Requirements:

  • Minimum of 6 years production experience, with some in a lead or supervising role
  • An attention to detail and ability to self-critique
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • An ability to guide and direct junior members of the team
  • A strong track record in successfully delivering projects within deadlines, whilst meeting the required quality and creative criteria
  • Both photorealistic and stylized 3d abilities
  • Familiarity with working within structured studio pipelines

Personal Requirements:

  • Currently be able to work in the UK.
  • Able to be located on-site in Edinburgh

Software & Technical Bonus:

  • Familiarity with the following software;
    • 3D in Houdini , Softimage & Maya
    • Compositing in Nuke
    • Allgorithmic Substance texturing suite
  • Scripting and coding skills (Python, Mel etc)

 3D Modelers and Texture Artists

Interference Pattern is looking for experienced freelance 3d modelers and texture artists on an ongoing basis. Ideally the candidates should have examples of both hard-surface and subdivision surface environment and prop modelling in their portfolio. Character and organic modelling skills a plus. Applications from skilled generalists with a particular flair for modelling will be welcome. Whilst the roles will initially primarily be based at Interference Pattern’s studio in Edinburgh, potential for remote working exists on future projects.


Modelling and texturing environment and character assets from 2d concept artwork.
Hard surface environment and prop modelling. (organic character modelling a benefit)
Ability to model styles ranging from realistic through to heavily stylized
High poly sculpting (Zbrush)
Both photo-realistic and stylized texturing abilities
Familiarity with Softimage, Maya or Houdini
Ability to model in either Softimage, Maya, Modo and Zbrush.
