Compositor (Nuke)

Compositor

Interference Pattern are recruiting for a full-time freelance Nuke Compositor to join the team on an exciting commercial project.

The Role

The Role requires a broad knowledge and experience of the entire 3D Pipeline, and a focus on producing polished final shots with aesthetic integrity and technical quality. We appreciate that potential candidates may have varying levels of experience; we are primarily looking for a proven track record in turning out great looking work using Nuke and a candidate who can demonstrate a strong sense of visual aesthetics. 

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for compositing final shots in Nuke
  • Working closely with the project’s creative team, directors and clients to define the best approach and execution for assigned shots. 
  • Composite and track shots to integrate all the layers, including live-action and CG elements/Compositing live action plates, CG renders and a combination of both

Requirements

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience of photoreal compositing of CGI elements within live action plates, using Nuke, within a production environment.
  • Possess a strong sense of composition, color, lighting, perspective, scale.
  • Clean and organised Nuke files and understanding of workflow and post-processing principles.
  • Ability to work within a style established by the Client / Creative lead.
  • Ability to problem solve and predict potential problems.
  • Strong communication skills are critical. Artist must be able to work within a team, taking direction and exercising attention to detail.

Location

We are currently operating a remote working model but preference will be given to applicants that are within +/- 2hr GMT.

Character Animators (Maya)

Role

Interference Pattern are recruiting for full-time freelance 3D character/creature animators to join us for some exciting upcoming commercial projects from the start of July until mid August.

Role and Requirements

  • Experience animating realistic creatures.
  • Proficiency animating in Maya
  • Working as part of a team of animators, and regularly communicating with your Team Lead and Animation Director
  • Managing your time efficiently to meet the deadlines of your assigned shots.
  • Making sure your work is communicating the story, ideas and acting choices clearly from blocking through to the final animation.
  • Responding positively to, and acting on notes and feedback from your Director and Animation Director

Location

We are currently operating a remote-working studio model, with all artists and production staff working off-site, which will continue for the foreseeable short term. Whilst proximity to the studio is desirable, especially looking to the future, it is not currently a requirement for this role but  preference will be given to applicants that are within +/-2 hr GMT.

Head of 3D

Head of CG/3D

Role

Interference Pattern are looking for an experienced senior artist to be our Head of 3D.

The role will involve leading 3D teams, choosing good technical solutions to creative challenges and ongoing hands-on work as a CG artist.

We are looking for a highly motivated, self driven individual with a desire to help us continue to expand and develop the studio.

If you’re interested in the following areas then we’d love to hear from you:

  • High resolution modelling and sculpting for characters and environments
  • Photorealistic texturing and surfacing
  • Lighting both realistic and stylised 3D scenes
  • Compositing workflows and methodologies for both live-action VFX and full CGI animation
  • Rendering technologies
  • Working with real-time engines such as Unreal and Unity
  • Leading teams and providing oversight and feedback to team members
  • Working within structured studio pipelines and using that knowledge to further develop workflows

 

  • In depth knowledge and experience in SideFX Houdini is a big plus
  • Candidates must be able to legally work within the UK

Producer

Role

Interference Pattern are looking for an experienced freelance creative producer to join us for a range of exciting new projects over the coming months. Experience producing 3d animation & vfx for broadcast and film is desirable.

Producers ensure the smooth and timely running and delivery of our projects. They liaise with clients and animators/artists, manage project budget and resources, working alongside the Head of Production and project Coordinators to overcome any obstacles that may arise during production.

Applicants

  • should have prior experience working as a producer in animation, vfx, games, broadcast or film  (desired but not essential)
  • should be broadly familiar with 3d animation and vfx terminology, processes, workflows and delivery requirements
  • should have a keen eye for movement and detail and be willing to contribute to creative discussions where appropriate (desired but not essential)
  • must have a proven track record of managing project resources to ensure delivery of creatively and technically accomplished projects, on time and on budget
  • should love animation and/or film. It helps as you will be looking at it behind the scenes, all day!

Senior 3D Asset Artist

Role

Interference Pattern are looking for a senior 3d asset artist to join our growing team at our Edinburgh studio for a long term contract. The role requires a high level of experience in modelling, sculpting and texturing stunning environmental, prop and character assets, in a range of styles. From hyper-realistic through to heavily stylised, we are looking for someone with the range to create across a broad spectrum of requirements. Ideally with experience in creating for both pre-rendered and real-time/games.

We appreciate that potential candidates may have varying levels of experience and software familiarity; we are primarily looking for a proven track record in turning out great looking work in good time and someone who can demonstrate a strong sense of visual aesthetics.

We are currently working on a remote studio model and will continue this for the foreseeable short term. We will however look to transition back to working from the studio in the future and this would ideally involve at least a part time presence in the Edinburgh studio. We are however open to discussion around this point and how it might work, for the chosen candidate.

Applicants:

  • will be driven by a desire to create stunning 3d assets
  • will be responsible for creating content for live studio projects
  • will have a keen eye for detail
  • will provide feedback and supervision to other artists

Junior Studio Assistant

Junior Studio Assistant

IMPORTANT: This position is only available to candidates who are part of the Government’s Kickstart scheme. In order to apply you must be aged 16-24 years, be on Universal Credit, and be registered with a Work Coach via the Jobcentre.

Role

<We’re looking for someone to assist with  project – and studio – management in our animation studio.

This will be a varied role supporting the existing management team in the smooth running of the studio and would include (but not be limited to) such things as scheduling client calls, scheduling review sessions, updating tracking documents, and disseminating information to teams, creating social media posts. This is an opportunity to the successful candidate to play a valued role in the smooth running of an animation studio whilst at the same time developing their own administrative and project management skills.

  • good written communication, IT skills, and experience with spreadsheets
  • the ability to be organised, pay attention to detail and to communicate well
  • an interest in  / experience in animation is preferred but not necessary
