2D Animation Supervisor
Role
We are seeking a 2D Animation Supervisor to join our studio to help manage our exciting current slate of 2D preschool animation work. This is initially a freelance position, with an immediate start, for six months.
What you’ll do:
Work with production to design and implement efficient production workflows, software choices etc that best suit each project.
Communicate and manage appropriate creative workflows with the animation team.
Ensure that the Production’s overall creative vision is understood and followed through by the creative team.
Review creative materials (i.e posing, animated scenes in sequences etc).
Participate in the recruiting process as required for your project.
Contribute artwork as required – builds, animation cycles, footage etc.
Work with production to ensure that deadlines are met.
What we’re looking for:
Experience with Toon Boom Harmony and Adobe Creative Suite.
A positive attitude, curiosity and willingness to experiment and learn.
Strong 2D animation skills and the ability to give feedback on animation.
An interest in and understanding of 2D animation workflows.
Previous experience as a 2D Animation Supervisor on episodic 2D animated series – ideally pre-school – or equivalent relevant experience.
Location
We are currently operating a hybrid remote-working and in-studio model, so this would ideally be partially onsite role in Edinburgh but we are completely open to remote applicants.

2D Line Producer
2D Line Producer
Role
We are seeking a Line Producer to join our studio to help manage our exciting upcoming 2D pre-school episodic animation projects.
This is initially a freelance position, with an immediate start, for six months.
What you’ll do:
- Manage and lead the daily operations of productions.
- Prepare, maintain and update production schedules and project budgets.
- Communicate directly with clients to discuss creative directions.
- Work closely with directors, department supervisors and Production Coordinators.
- Lead regular production meetings and evaluate production progress.
- Assist in crew staffing, and interviews.
- Meet milestones deadlines as required
What we’re looking for:
- Previous experience as a production manager on episodic 2D animated series – ideally pre-school – or equivalent relevant experience.
- Ideally experience on projects that have used Toon Boom Harmony and Adobe Creative Suite.
Location
We are currently operating a hybrid remote-working and in-studio model, so this would ideally be an onsite role in Edinburgh but we are open to remote applicants.

Production Coordinator

Role
Interference Pattern are recruiting for a production coordinator to join the team on a freelance basis for a range of exciting new projects.
What we’re looking for:
The role will involve coordinating day to day aspects of studio projects including client liaison, scheduling, artist and animator task assignments, alongside assisting in some general studio administration and organisational tasks such as recruitment.
Excellent communication skills are essential and previous project management or coordination experience along with an understanding of both 2d and CG animation pipelines would be highly desirable.

Character Animators (Maya)

Role
Interference Pattern are recruiting for full-time freelance 3D character animators to join us for some exciting upcoming commercial projects running through this year.
Role and Requirements
- Experience animating stylised characters.
- Proficiency animating in Maya
- Working as part of a team of animators, and regularly communicating with your Team Lead and Animation Director
- Managing your time efficiently to meet the deadlines of your assigned shots.
- Making sure your work is communicating the story, ideas and acting choices clearly from blocking through to the final animation.
- Responding positively to, and acting on notes and feedback from your Director and Animation Director
Location
We are currently operating a remote-working studio model, with all artists and production staff working off-site, which will continue for the foreseeable short term. Whilst proximity to the studio is desirable, especially looking to the future, it is not currently a requirement for this role but preference will be given to applicants that are within +/-2 hr GMT.

Role
Interference Pattern are looking for an experienced senior artist to be our Head of CG.
The role will involve leading 3D teams, choosing good technical solutions to creative challenges and ongoing hands-on work as a CG artist.
We are looking for a highly motivated, self driven individual with a desire to help us continue to expand and develop the studio.
If you have the following experience then we’d love to hear from you:
- Comprehensive technical and artistic understanding of the full CGI pipeline
- A keen eye for lighting both realistic and stylised 3D
- Experience lighting, compositing and delivering complete shots
- Compositing workflows and methodologies for both live-action VFX and full CGI animation
- High resolution modelling and sculpting for characters, props and environments, both realistic and stylised
- Photorealistic texturing and surfacing
- Rendering technologies
- Working with real-time engines such as Unreal and Unity
- Leading teams and providing oversight and feedback to team members
- Working within structured studio pipelines and using that knowledge to further develop workflows
- In depth knowledge and experience in SideFX Houdini is a big plus
- Candidates must be able to legally work within the UK

Unreal Generalist / Environment & Lighting Artist

Interference Pattern is recruiting for a full-time freelance Unreal Generalist / Environment & Lighting Lead to join the team on an exciting narrative animation project in production, using Unreal Engine.
Role
You will have responsibility for delivering the environment/set builds and lighting all shots within Unreal, as well as having input into other areas such as FX and CFX, DMP etc. You should have a broad knowledge and experience of the Unreal based pipeline and generating final image output directly from the engine. An interest in guiding junior artists on the team would be advantageous.

- Experience as an environment and lighting artist essential
- Having a good eye for both stylised and realistic environments/lighting
- Experience working with a stylised NPR visual style within Unreal would be advantageous

Interference Pattern are looking for a senior 3d asset artist to join our growing team at our Edinburgh studio for a long term contract. The role requires a high level of experience in modelling, sculpting and texturing stunning environmental, prop and character assets, in a range of styles. From hyper-realistic through to heavily stylised, we are looking for someone with the range to create across a broad spectrum of requirements. Ideally with experience in creating for both pre-rendered and real-time/games.
We appreciate that potential candidates may have varying levels of experience and software familiarity; we are primarily looking for a proven track record in turning out great looking work in good time and someone who can demonstrate a strong sense of visual aesthetics.
We are currently working on a remote studio model and will continue this for the foreseeable short term. We will however look to transition back to working from the studio in the future and this would ideally involve at least a part time presence in the Edinburgh studio. We are however open to discussion around this point and how it might work, for the chosen candidate.

Compositor (Nuke)

Interference Pattern are recruiting for a full-time freelance Nuke Compositor to join the team on an exciting commercial project.
The Role
The Role requires a broad knowledge and experience of the entire 3D Pipeline, and a focus on producing polished final shots with aesthetic integrity and technical quality. We appreciate that potential candidates may have varying levels of experience; we are primarily looking for a proven track record in turning out great looking work using Nuke and a candidate who can demonstrate a strong sense of visual aesthetics.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for compositing final shots in Nuke
- Working closely with the project’s creative team, directors and clients to define the best approach and execution for assigned shots.
- Composite and track shots to integrate all the layers, including live-action and CG elements/Compositing live action plates, CG renders and a combination of both
Requirements
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience of photoreal compositing of CGI elements within live action plates, using Nuke, within a production environment.
- Possess a strong sense of composition, color, lighting, perspective, scale.
- Clean and organised Nuke files and understanding of workflow and post-processing principles.
- Ability to work within a style established by the Client / Creative lead.
- Ability to problem solve and predict potential problems.
- Strong communication skills are critical. Artist must be able to work within a team, taking direction and exercising attention to detail.
